No paid advertising

There is no paid advertising on DixieChatter. Links to local businesses, events, and organizations are provided as news and community information only and are not endorsements.

If that ever changes, the rules below apply to paid content.

Clear labels

• Paid posts will be labeled “Sponsored Content · Paid Advertisement” at the top of the post and wherever it’s promoted.
• Banner ads will carry an “Advertisement” label.

Advertisers don’t control coverage

Advertisers and sponsors never decide what we cover, can’t review news before it’s published, and don’t get favorable coverage for paying. Sponsors of student features have no say in which students are chosen.

Where ads never appear

• On alerts or any emergency coverage.
• Next to content about a specific student in a way that suggests the student endorses the advertiser. Students never appear in ads.

Ads we don’t accept

• Political ads of any kind (candidates, parties, ballot issues, political causes).
• Gambling, sportsbook and casino ads; alcohol, tobacco, vaping, cannabis/CBD and firearms ads.
• Ads that attack competitors or make claims the advertiser can’t back up.
• Fake reviews or testimonials.

We may refuse or remove any ad at our discretion.

Advertiser responsibilities

Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy of their ads and offers and for having the rights to the logos, photos and trademarks they give us.
