Updated
Effective October 3, 2026. This policy covers dixiechatter.com, operated by DixieChatter (“DixieChatter,” “we”). Questions: news@dixiechatter.com.
Short version
We collect as little as we can. We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t run ads, analytics trackers, a newsletter or sign-up forms on the site right now. This page explains what does happen when you visit or email us.
What we collect and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your name, email address and message | You email us (for example a tip, correction or question) | To read and answer you |
| Technical data (IP address, browser and device type, pages requested) | You visit the site | Our web host and its security and caching tools need it to deliver pages and protect the site |
| Cookies | Only if you log in to the site’s admin area | WordPress uses cookies to keep site staff logged in |
We don’t ask for Social Security numbers, payment-card numbers, or health or financial information.
Fonts and outside services
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. See Google’s privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Links to X, Facebook and other sites take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. If we add embedded X or Facebook posts in the future, X or Meta may collect data about your visit when a page with an embed loads, and we will update this page.
How long we keep things
Emails you send us: up to 24 months, then deleted unless needed for a correction or legal matter. Server and security logs: as long as our host keeps them.
Sharing
We don’t sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site and our email (hosting: Hostinger), when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and safety.
Children
DixieChatter is a general-audience site and isn’t directed to children under 13. If we learn we’ve collected personal information from a child under 13, we delete it. Parents can reach us at news@dixiechatter.com.
Students featured in sports coverage
See our Corrections & Editorial Policy for how we handle students’ names and photos and how parents can request changes.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or ask us to delete messages you sent us: email news@dixiechatter.com.
Changes
If we add tools (for example analytics, a newsletter or a contact form), we’ll update this policy and its effective date first.
